The successful start of the Festival of Urban Culture Slovenia is behind us, with the kick-off event »Ljubljana is urban« (»Lublana je urbana«), organized during two days, the 30th of June and 1st of July, offering its visitors vivid happening on over 10 venues during day- and night-time, and rendering over 30 different performers from Slovenia and abroad, in three programme segments.

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t play along with the organizers, who had to cancel /postpone a part of the programme due to strong evening downpour. The organizers regret the conditions caused by force majeure that strongly effected the attendance at the festival. Today, great events and all highlights of the festival such as Jazzanova with Paul Randolph (Ger), Booka Shade (Ger) and the International Reggae Day await us. After last night’s party in wellies & puddles under the pouring rain, the weather forecast and all modern satellite technology predict a perfect second day of the festival, without any rainfall and with plenty of sunshine!

Today, on June 1st the second day of the festival brings the highlights of the programme. At 14.00 hrs. a new daytime programme of the Festival of Urban Culture Slovenia awaits at several venues. At Petkovsek embankment DJ K’Pow is offering a workshop, DJs Massimo Ota and Boogie will perform in front of the Museum of Modern Art. The venue of Central Station (Centralna Postaja) is reserved for Den7el and Levanaell from 14.00 hrs. and Žmauc will host Kors B2B Puff and Fraku B2B Kosta.

In Tivoli Park the celebration of International Reggae Day is organized for the first time in Slovenia, with programme for children (yoga and drawing room), and performances by Ohoroho Selektor, Ljubljanjah Vibes, Reggaemylitis, The Wild Citizen, Dr Bancho, Rockers DUB Master Soundsystem and Roots in Session will honour this occasion from 14.00 to 20.00 hrs.

The highlight of the festival will start on the main stage at Congress Square (Kongresni trg) with Slovenian DJ Ichisan at 19.00 hrs., while at 21.00 hrs. a performance by the famous German group Jazzanova Feat Paul Randolph takes over the stage. At 22.30 hrs., we await the performance by Tim Urbanya, and at 23.00 hrs. the long-awaited performance by German duo Booka Shade.

KUD Channel Zero in Metelkova experienced a beautiful night as well, basically as a part of the International Reggae Day, celebrated in Slovenia for the first time. The chosen performers "set the floor" for the today’s grand celebration in Tivoli Park. Don’t miss it, the happening started already!

The clubbing part of the programme will move to KUD Channel Zero with Ichisan and Ule Nakova, while DJs Tom Trago and Slovenia-based Splinterhouse, Ian F, Simm and Volk will occupy the DJ booth in Club K4. Cirkus Club will host DJs Dey and Selekto CEE until the early morning hours.
